Peer Support

Life doesn’t stop when one loses sight, but the day-to-day can be challenging. BlindSight Delaware provides professionally facilitated Peer Support Group meetings around the state, and one-on-one telephone support.

Group Support

In-person meetings provide an opportunity to connect with others who are experiencing similar day-to-day challenges. Sharing with others reduces feelings of isolation and loneliness which are common as one loses visual ability. Group support also points out access to community resources, products and solutions and offers tips and techniques to make day-to-day living easier.

One-On-One Telephone Support

Sometimes all that is needed is a private talk with someone. BlindSight Delaware volunteers, who not only are compassionate listeners but also visually impaired themselves, offer telephone support based on their own wealth of knowledge and experience in adapting to everyday issues.

Recording Services

When reading print materials becomes a challenge, talking devices and equipment can bridge that gap. BlindSight Delaware’s Recording Services program provides both weekly local news and monthly magazine cartridges to people who have a digital player from the Delaware Library Access Services. Contact DLAS at (800) 282-8676 to apply for a digital player.

Next call BlindSight Delaware at (302) 998-5913, ext. 107, to begin receiving our weekly cartridge and enjoy listening to periodicals and newspapers such as News of Delaware, AARP Magazine & Bulletin, Our Daily Bread, and more.

Custom Recording Services

BlindSight Delaware will also record materials that might not be accessible in audio, such as instruction materials, conference materials, booklets, etc. Call (302) 998-5913, ext. 107, for information.

Health & Wellness

It is our desire to return to the Matter of Balance training as soon as possible. This is a fall prevention program to support safety. Many older adults, especially those who have lost their vision later in life experience a fear of falling. Matter of Balance is a fall prevention program schedule to start in the spring of 2023.
